     June 23, 1997 - BIDS PROCUREMENT REPORT
First phase construction of the Ramallo International Center

Bids Procurement Report
Vol.16 No.24

The first phase for the construction of Ramallo International Center in Caguas was awarded to Aireko Construction Corporation at a cost of approximately $24 million.

The project is located on about 60 acres of land in La Muda Sector on Highway 1, old Río Piedras-Caguas Road.

Phase one includes the construction of a 27,000-square foot art printing building to house the Ramallo Bros. printing office headquarters, manufacturing area, storage and loading/unloading area.

The construction of a 107,000 square foot building is also contemplated for Caribbean Forms, a commercial printing affiliate of Ramallo Art-Printing.

Structural steel with pre-cast tilt-up panels are the design selection to build these structures over driven piles foundation method. Each building will have employees and visitors parking. A day care center of 2,000-square feet will be part of phase one.

Site work includes an off-site sanitary force line of approximately 5 kilometers along PR-1 to connect to Santa Clara pumping station. A 72-inch diameter reinforced concrete pipe will be installed at the east side of the complex.

A new traffic light intersection with desacceleration and acceleration lanes is required to be constructed, thus improving the exit to Highway 1.
